Long regarded as the queen of road tennis, veteran Sandra Bailey confirmed her royalty in Bush Hall by winning an exciting final in the Bush Hall In House competition at the Deighton “Pa” Roach Tennis Facility on Sunday night.

After taking the first set, Bailey shook off a sow in the second to take the three-setter from good friend Estherphyne Holder 21-18, 9-21, 21-18.  Bailey played some tremendous tennis, showing that in spite of increased age and girth she still commanded a deadly forehand drive and backhand defence.

Bailey also entertained beyond her tennis skills as whenever she was beaten with one of Holder’s shots the postwoman would do a full split on the court or engage in some physical display which highlighted her flexibility and fitness. (KB)
