Today is decision day for thousands voting in the St George North by-election from a line-up of six candidates – two more than in the 2018 general election.
The battle for the seat in the House of Assembly was a six-week intense campaign by the political parties to woo the 9 849 voters across the rural riding.
The candidates are trade unionist Toni Moore of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP); former cricketer and cricket coach Floyd Reifer of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP); agriculturalist David Walrond of the People’s Party for Democracy and Development (PdP); structural engineer Grenville Phillips, the leader of Solutions Barbados; social activist Alex Mitchell of the Bajan Free Party; and project consultant Ambrose Grosvenor of the United Progressive Party (UPP).
They are vying for the seat left vacant after the stepping down of homeboy Gline Clarke, who held it for 26 years.
Early voting took place on November 4, during which there were 46 electors on the special polling day and two from the foreign service. (AC)
