All of Barbados’ front-line workers in the COVID-19 pandemic will be conferred with the Barbados Humanitarian Medal.

Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced the necessary legislation would be laid before Parliament, in her address at yesterday’s Independence Day Parade, where four people were honoured for their early actions to keep the pandemic away from these shores.

The Barbados Star Of Gallantry, which they received, is a new Barbados honour awarded for the first time yesterday.

Dr Manoharsingh Rajamanickam a medical officer of health at the Edgar Cochrane Polyclinic, Captain Donville Dash of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), Lieutenant (Coast Guard) Anderson Goodridge of the Barbados Coast Guard and Lieutenant Rudolf Morris of the Barbados Defence Force received the Barbados Star of Gallantry for their work to restrict entry of the coronavirus into Barbados in the initial stage of the pandemic, risking their lives in dangerous and difficult conditions.
