The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) will not be taking strike action against G4S Secure Solutions Barbados.

That is part of the news coming out of a meeting between the two parties that was chaired by Prime Minister Mia Mottley. It started yesterday evening and finished in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Mottley was addressing the nation on the discussions held at Ilaro Court, but livestreaming was abandoned because of a poor internet service.

On Monday evening, BWU general secretary Toni Moore held an emergency meeting of the executive council to determine whether a national strike would be necessary. At the same time, the Prime Minister met with her Cabinet and then mediated talks between the two parties.

More details as they come.  (SAT)
