The Barbados Aquatic Sports Association (BASA) is awaiting approval from Government to go ahead with the CARIFTA championships slated for next Easter here.
Newly elected president of BASA, Lady Forde said a proposal and protocols have been submitted to the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit and it is now up to health authorities to grant permission for the event to take place from April 3 to 6.
Earlier this year, Barbados was also set to host the championships which were cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“We have been in contact with the COVID people in relation to hosting CARIFTA next year and because of how fluid the situation is with the virus, we can’t make a definitive plan at this stage but we are preparing for it as though it is going to happen . . .”. (AGB)
