International football is set to return to Barbados for the first time since the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The COVID-19 monitoring unit recently gave the Barbados Football Association (BFA) the green light to host a series of matches against Iceland Under-21 team in mid-January at the Wildey Turf without spectators.

It will be part of the senior Tridents’ preparation for the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifying tournament which is slated to begin March.

“We will confirm the dates shortly. As soon as the team can confirm they can reach Barbados we will set them. The fact that they are interested in coming to Barbados would mean that they are happy with the arrangements here,” BFA president Randy Harris told NATION SPORT during a telephone interview. (AGB)
