The start of 2021 was extra special for Deidre Lewis.
Not only did she deliver the first New Year’s baby at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), but her bundle of joy, Riona Smith, now shares the same birthday as her mother.
Lewis, 38, a mother of five, brought Riona, her third daughter, into the world at 3:32 a.m. yesterday weighing 6.88 pounds.
“At work the girls and I always used to make jokes and I told them that I planned to dress up at the hospital and when I was leaving, I wanted to be made up because I didn’t want to look battered,” she said. (SB)
