Students sharing inappropriate content in the classroom will be suspended from classes and reported to the Ministry of Education.

And those who insist on logging on to the virtual classroom with names other than those on the teachers’ register will not be able to access the classroom.

Head of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Pedro Shepherd, yesterday said this remained a major concern and has advised teachers to take all necessary precautions should they encounter any instances.

A video making the rounds on social media, showed someone laughing in the background while the instructor asked someone named “Pompey” to identify themselves. “Pompey” then went on to present their screen to the classroom with pornographic material, while the recorder continued laughing. The teacher eventually said she would dismiss the classroom, as students could be heard asking inappropriate questions in a classroom setting. (RA)
