An online appeal to Barbadians has reaped some rewards for students of Princess Margaret Secondary School.
On Friday, calypsonian and president of the St Philip school’s alumni association, Adrian Clarke, released a video in which he appealed for digital devices for more than 300 students who have been attempting online classes because of the COVID-19 restrictions.
Since the clip was posted, Clarke said at least one financial institution and individual Barbadians, including some who reside in North America, have responded positively by pledging both funds and devices.
“The video has been well received. My phone has not stopped ringing; I keep getting messages. Up to this morning somebody pledged $1 000 of their personal funds. Another young lady who was in a year group a few years under me said some people in her year collected money and sent it in . . .” (TG)
