The 2021 CARIFTA Aquatic Championships have been postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

President of the Barbados Aquatic Sports Association (BASA) Cheryl Lady Forde said the event, originally slated for March 26 to April 7, will no longer take place over the Easter weekend.

Lady Forde announced that a new date will be set after a meeting with the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit next month.

The development comes just days after Barbados recorded its 11th death because of the novel coronavirus and less than 72 hours following Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley’s announcement of a 15-day national lockdown from February 3 to 17. (AGB)
