Vasbert Drakes and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have failed to reach a settlement and the matter is now headed before the High Court of Antigua.
Attorney for Drakes, Ralph Thorne, Queen’s Counsel, acknowledged that the arbitration process had failed in the dispute in which the former Test allrounder is taking legal action over the decision by CWI to fire him from its coaching staff in 2019.
Thorne said the matter was pending a date of hearing.
“I have filed a case before the Antigua High Court and we are expecting a hearing this year.
“The matter went to arbitration and we could not arrive at a settlement there and so it is continuing in the High Court. We have had a preliminary hearing before the High Court and we expect to have a final hearing soon,” he said. (MK)
