Nineteen people were identified as positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) on Sunday, February 21, while 65 recovered from the viral illness.

The new positive cases were among the 310 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The 19 new cases comprised nine women and ten men. One of them had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing assessment to determine whether their positive PCR test result showed that the individual was in fact newly positive, or had COVID in the past and was no longer infectious.

The other 18 cases were Barbadians.

Barbados has recorded 2 791 confirmed cases – 1 281 females and 1 510 males and 2 035 persons have recovered. There have been 31 deaths from the viral illness.

The public health laboratory has so far completed 121 121 tests.

There were 706 people vaccinated on Sunday, as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date 16 544 vaccinations have been administered – 7 283 men and 9 261 women. (BGIS)
