Man on firearm charge

A St Michael man is expected to appear in court today charged with possession of a firearm without a being the holder of a licence to do so.

Thirty-seven-year-old Jason Omar Harper of Rockhampton Road, Jackson, was arrested by members of the police Anti-gun and Gangs Unit on Thursday.

Officers carried out an operation around 7:50 p.m. which led to a vehicle being stopped at the junction of Reservoir Road and Husbands New Development, St Michael.

The vehicle and its occupants were searched and the firearm a .22 pistol, was found in the possession of the accused.

Harper is scheduled to appear in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court. (PR/NB)
