Road maintenance will be ongoing along the Barrow section of the ABC Highway near the Norman Niles Roundabout, going north west towards Clyde Walcott Roundabout and onto Warrens, St Michael from Tuesday to Thursday.
This cleanup of the highway is due to the severe ash fall experienced over the past few days which has made the carriageway muddy and dusty, and presents hazardous driving conditions, a media statement from the Royal Barbados Polie Force said.
Motorists can expect restrictions to one lane. There will be signage and road markings to inform drivers to reduce their speeds and to drive in single file. No overtaking is allowed.
The statement said members of the police Traffic Department will assist with regulation and all motorists must comply with the directions of police officers in uniform.
Drivers can expect some backup of traffic and should avoid the area if possible. This clean-up work is expected from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. (PR)
