As uncertainty looms large with the continuing eruption of the La Soufriere volcano in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Nation News will have a team on the ground, bringing you the latest in coverage.

The team comprising reporter Colville Mounsey and photographer Sandy Pitt, left the island tonight along with representatives from several other local media houses aboard the Coast Guard vessel HMBS Leonard C. Banfield, which is embarking on its third humanitarian mission to the affected island.

The journalists are expected to arrive in St Vincent just around 6 a.m. tomorrow, with the hope of hitting the ground running, to accurately capture some of the key stories of the disaster unfolding in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from giving readers in-depth coverage of the disaster, the team hopes to provide greater insight into the extent of the displacement and needs in St Vincent, as well as the relief effort.

Barbados suffered a significant amount of the spinoff impact of the volcanic activity, with deposits of ash blanketing the island, disrupting air traffic, schools and businesses. (CM)
