UPDATE: Police identify man missing at sea

The man who reportedly went missing while swimming at Brighton, St Michael today has been identified as 21-year-old Javonne Andre Jalani Moise of Dash Valley, St George.

Police said Moise is approximately 5’8″ tall, “his hair is plaited in a corn row style, and he was bareback”.

At the time Moise was wearing a yellow and red beach shorts.

A search which was being conducted by the Police Marine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard was postponed at 6:40 p.m. due to poor lighting conditions. The search will resume at first light tomorrow.

Police said it was reported that around 4:15 p.m. today a group of five young men went to Brighton Beach, St Michael in the area known as the “Hot Pot”.

Two of them were swimming when one of them got into difficulty.

It was reported that the missing man “went under the water, efforts were made by his friend to assist him but he was unsuccessful”.

Moise reportedly disappeared and never resurfaced. (PR)
