One new case of viral illness

One new positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19) – a man – was diagnosed on Sunday, May 16, from the 276 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Ten people recovered from the viral illness and were discharged. There are currently 86 people in isolation.

Barbados has recorded 3 968 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (1 917 women and 2 051 men) since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. There have been 3 932 recoveries, while 46 people have succumbed to the virus.

The public health laboratory has conducted 163 093 tests since February, last year.

The National Vaccination Programme has seen 75 956 people immunised against COVID-19 (first and second doses). This figure includes 43 867 people who have been fully vaccinated during the second phase of the programme. (BGIS)
