The Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA) and the Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) this morning that will allow Barbadians to achieve Level 2 and Level 3 certification in medicinal cannabis cultivation.
Chief executive officer of the BMCLA, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight said the TVET Council was one of the entities they approached when talks of a medicinal cannabis industry being established in Barbados were broached.
Additionally, Munro-Knight said they were looking at launching other initiatives to build out the industry as an inclusive and that would allow them to build the necessary capacity for Barbadians who wanted to participate in the industry.
Two weeks ago, the BMCLA and the University of the West Indies signed an MOU that would allow for research and development. (RA)
