Photojournalist Clyde Jones was laid to rest today on home soil after he died over a month ago in Brooklyn, New York.

It was his second funeral service, following the first which was held in late April at St Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in East Flatbush, New York.

For more than an hour, family and friends of the 90-year-old paid their finals respects at St Mary’s Church, Bridgetown, where Jones’ coffin was covered with the flag of the Barbados Legion.

During the service, he was remembered for representing Barbados well in the United States, the love he had for his country and all that he did to ensure the best of Barbados was publicised.

It was highlighted that throughout his career, Jones submitted images to the Barbados Advocate for about 20 years and the Nation for about 25.

He captured photos of many people – from Queen Elizabeth to Barbadian entertainers.

In her eulogy, Jones’ niece Katherine Dyall-Holder said he truly lived. “Uncle Clyde has taken enough photos in his life to document that he has lived a full and exciting life. We will miss you, Uncle Clyde,” she said.

Jones’ body was interred at the Military Cemetery. (TG)
