A positive case of coronavirus COVID-19 has been recorded at The People’s Cathedral Primary School and classes have resumed online until further notice.

Reports are that one student has tested positive.

A letter reportedly issued by Principal Heather Bryan said that the entire school will be sanitised.

Bryan told Starcom Network that they are being guided by the Ministry of Health through its COVID team.

“Teachers who would have been interacting directly, they are going into quarantine from today. There are some who will be quarantined at home and others are being quarantined in hotels.”

As of now, classes will be conducted online. Bryan said there is no need to panic.

She also said she was focusing on the mental wellbeing of those affected.

President of the Barbados Union of Teachers Pedro Shepherd said that we are going to get these “one, one cases” of COVID-19 in schools. He said it is something that we have to live with and manage. (KG)
