Tropical wave bringing rain, thunder and lightning

Severe thunderstorm and flash-flood warnings are in effect for Barbados until noon today.

The Barbados Meteorological Services says these are associated with a tropical wave that is moving onshore.

A severe thunderstorm warning is issued when significant lightning activity is expected in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) or is already occurring within the warning area.

A flash-flood warning is issued when rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) is occurring or is imminent in the warning area. (PR/SAT)
