Bostic hosts COVID-19 Update and Press Conference

Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic is hosting a press conference today, at 5:30 p.m. (PR)

 

  • Measures to be implemented from Tuesday, July 13
  • Measures will be in place for two weeks.
  • Daily curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • No social gatherings.
  • Attendance at indoor events will be capped at 100.
  • Funeral attendance, based on spacing, will be capped at 100 people.
  • Summer camps delayed for the next two weeks.
  • Full contact sports on hold.
  • No spectators at events, including cricket.
  • Dance clubs and studios on hold.
  • 75 per cent seating capacity on public transportation. No standing allowed.
  • Those who can work from home should be allowed to do so.

Of recent samples received from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA):

  • 9 samples are the Alpha variant (B117).
  • 3 samples are the Delta variant.
  • 3 samples are the Gamma variant.
  • As of July 10th:
  • 908 tests conducted.
  • 40 new COVID-19 cases – 20 males, 20 females.
  • In addition, six other people to be assessed at Harrison’s Point today.
  • Positivity rate has moved to 1.6 per cent.
  • Church in St Michael recorded 33 new cases. Almost all members in hotel quarantine.
  • Contacts of these individuals will go to quarantine.
  • Large business house – 21 members tested positive.
  • Family in St George – 10 people tested positive.
  • Another business – 4 people tested positive.
  • Three people who arrived on Caribbean Airlines tested positive.
  • Three young children are being monitored.
  • They presented to Winston Scott Polyclinic, all independently.
  • Presented with Gastrointestinal symptoms – abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
  • This is a “quite unusual” presentation for COVID.
