Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George is extremely dissatisfied with the practices of some Barbadians within the back offices and confines of business houses.
He said they had dropped their guard in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and loose practices had resulted in increased cases which have been manifested in the current spike of local transmission of the viral illness.
Speaking during a press conference yesterday, George said they had proof that protocols were being breached regularly, and not just outside in communities, or at restaurants or bars.
“What we are noticing is that when you go into businesses across Barbados, some do a temperature check and you get hand sanitising. But the worrying thing is the operations that you don’t see. We have good reason to believe those operations include how people mix and mingle within the business. There is a feeling of comfort with your peers, and the worrisome part of this is where people mix, for example, when they have their lunch breaks, they are close and not social distancing and not wearing their masks.”
