Barbadian swimmers Danielle Titus and Alex Sobers both placed sixth in their heats of the women’s 100 metres backstroke and men’s 200 metres freestyle, respectively, at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games this morning.
Eighteen-year-old Olympic debutant Titus posted a time of one minute, 4.53 seconds in the second heat of her event, just shy of her personal best of 1 minute 3.15 seconds.
Sobers, also competing in heat 2, finished in a time of 1 minute 48.09 seconds, a new personal best and national record, eclipsing the 1:48.36 minutes he set at the 2021 ISCA International Senior Cup in March. (NM)
