Government has not reached any policy in relation to mandatory vaccines or mandatory testing for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Acting Attorney General Wilfred Abrahams made this point during the third town hall meeting on COVID-19 vaccines and testing at the Deighton Griffith Secondary School, Kingsland, Christ Church, on Monday night.

“It is only after hearing from as wide a cross-section as possible, that a representative Government makes policies or takes steps that embrace the considerations of the populace generally, as opposed to one particular segment or a specified or particular interested group.

“Our process, as a responsible Government, we heard what the private sector said at the beginning, everybody heard it, and the Prime Minister indicated let us talk, hear everybody and decide the way forward.

“That is what we’re actually trying to do. I am quite willing to hear some of the other positions, so that when we do formulate a policy it is representative of not just your opinion, but the opinion of all contending interests,” Abrahams said.

He was responding to a statement from a member of the audience who suggested Government was pushing a mandatory vaccination campaign across the board, and who demanded that the AG, acting or otherwise, deliver the legal opinion on mandatory vaccines, which was due ten days ago. (RA)
