It was a slow and steady stream of voters today when the elections for the executive of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) got under way.

Voting began from 6 a.m. and acting deputy general secretary of the NUPW, Richard Green, said the turnout was not as high as originally anticipated.

“I cannot say that the voter turnout was high as we were originally hoping for but it was slow and steady throughout the day. The highest turnout was around 12 p.m. as a number of persons took the opportunity to vote during their lunch break. However voting may also pick up at the end of the workday,” Green said.

Voting concludes at 6 p.m., at which time the votes will be tallied and the winners declared tonight.

At the top of the ticket are NUPW presidential hopefuls Kimberley Agard and Fabian Jones. (CLM)
