Severance pay ‘coming soon’

Barbadians due severance payments, including some former LIAT workers and ex-hotel employees, are closer to receiving their monies.

Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations Colin Jordan said an expedited process was under way and he expected a number of these matters to be resolved between this week and next month.

He gave an update yesterday as the House of Assembly approved $50 million for the National Insurance Scheme’s Unemployment Benefit Fund.

“There are two major groups of persons who have been occupying our attention that we have been working hard to satisfy their legitimate claims,” said the St Peter representative. (SC)
