Death ‘a big loss’ to community

The death of Lee Bovell, who was involved in an accident with a vehicle while he was walking along the road at the junction of KNR Husbands and Church Street in St Peter on Friday night, has rocked some members of his community.

Yesterday residents of Rose Hill, also in St Peter, told the Sunday Sun they were shaken by the 39-year-old’s death as it was the fourth person in that district to be taken from them.

Proprietor of Husband’s Catering and Bar, Dakovan Husbands, said Bovell was a loyal customer and when the people who were patronising his establishment heard about the tragedy, it dampened the mood there.

“That just changed the entire vibe, everything just went dead,” he said. “It’s a big loss to our community due to the fact that everybody was still in mourning and we haven’t got a chance to get peace and get over the deaths that occurred out here. He was the fourth person from here to die.

“First, it was the policeman Newton Lewis, then another guy who sells gas up the road, Grenville Cumberbatch and now him.” (SB)
