The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) is now officially a member of the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA), following a vote during an online general meeting on Wednesday.

In a historic move, two of the island’s biggest sporting organisations formed a partnership, paving the way for the Barbados women cricket team to participate in the Commonwealth Games next summer in Birmingham.

BCA president Conde Riley told Weekend Sport it is a momentous occasion for local sports.

“It is great for us. Our women will be the first group from the West Indies to play and they could do well. It really augurs well for the sport and that is important. I know they are looking forward to it. When they are finished with the World Cup, we will definitely prepare them,” he said. (AGB)
