The number of deaths associated with the coronavirus (COVID-19) virus in Barbados jumped overnight, when four more people succumbed to the viral illness.
The Ministry of Health had yesterday reported two deaths of people being treated at the Isolation Facility at Harrison Point, St Lucy which would have taken the death toll to 71, but it moved up to 75 by this morning.
COVID-19 Public Advisor, David Ellis moments ago confirmed the four additional deaths, but said more details should be forthcoming from the Ministry of Health and Wellness later today.
Yesterday, Head of the Isolation Facility, infectious disease specialist Dr Corey Forde had indicated the Primary Care department at Harrison Point was treating 21 people who were severely ill.
Barbados is now in the throes of its worst COVID-19 surge since the virus first reached these shores last March. (BA)
