Too many vets, frets Wallace

Former Barbados captain and West Indies opener Philo Wallace believes the decision to include several experienced players in the Windies squad for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup, was highly questionable.

Wallace said he preferred to see younger players included in the 15-member squad because of the physical conditions that will exist for the global showpiece from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

“The selectors have seemingly placed a higher value on experienced players that have been tried and tested rather than youth,” Wallace said.

“It is going to be a challenge for such a squad in such trying conditions in places such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Oman, where the T20 World Cup will be played.” (AR)
