214 more test positive for COVID-19

Health authorities said on Monday 214 people were identified with COVID-19 cases on Sunday out of 1 706 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the 94 males and 120 females who tested positive, 55 were under the age of 18.

There are 565 people in isolation facilities, and 2 088 in home isolation.

Confirmed cases of the viral illness reached 11 132 (5 386 males and 5 746 females) since March last year, and there have been 98 deaths.

The public health laboratory carried out 342 465 tests.

Health authorities also said 142 182 people have received first doses of the available COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme and 112 162 people (41.4 per cent of the total population or 49.1 per cent of the eligible population) had their second dose and are now fully vaccinated.
