291 new virus cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 291 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), 150 males and 141 females, on Saturday, October 23. The facility conducted 2 638 tests.

The new positives comprise 65 people, who are under the age of 18, and 226 who are 18 years and older.

There are 794 people in isolation facilities, and 4 514 in home isolation.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded, since March last year, stand at 15 341 (7 436 males and 7 905 females). As of October 23, 130 lives have been lost to the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 374 857 tests since February 2020.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 146 877 (64.3 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 121 347 (44.8 per cent of the total population or 53.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (MHW/BGIS)
