Republic Bank’s branch at Wildey, St Michael, will reopen on Monday, and with beefed up security.

Chief executive officer and managing director Anthony Clerk told Nation News that work had been done on the building since a gunman attempted to rob the bank on Wednesday, and customers and staff would be safer doing business there.

He also revealed that the two female staffers who received gunshot injuries during the attempted robbery were now resting comfortably at home.

“Both are at home and recovering. It could have been a whole lot worse,” Clerk he said about the incident.

He added that all staff had received group counselling and those feeling the need for individual counselling would be facilitated in the coming days.

“Everyone was shaken, but we are hoping that by next week everyone is settled down,” he said. (BA)
