With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting a high number of the elderly population, the family of Florence Mason has been keeping her safe and were happy to celebrate her 102nd birthday yesterday.

Six of Mason’s nine living children (five predeceased her) descended at her home at Bayleys, St Philip, along with a few of her grandchildren, great grand-children and great-great grand-children, to celebrate with the golden girl, who is still active, especially when it comes to dancing.

Son Patrick Mason, 63, called her “the best mother in the world”.

“In her younger days she worked on the farm cutting grass and she did maid work. I know everybody does talk about their mum but we all can say we got the best mum in the world,” he said as he spoke lovingly about her generous and nurturing nature. (MB)
