Eye “Brooms” Are Dangerous!

Share post:

Dear Doc,

I am flabbergasted at the “brooms” these women of all ages wear on their eyes! I understand they put on false eyelashes with some sort of glue. That can’t be good for their eyes. What will happen to women’s eyes if they keep on putting on these false eyelashes?

Will we have a nation of blind women?! – Archie Dear Archie,

The means by which these

eyelashes are applied can contribute to bacterial infections.

The type of glue and the technique are also contributing factors. The ducts of the eyelids can be blocked and lead to growths called styes and or chalazions. A chalazion is a blockage of the duct of an oil gland that leads to bacterial infection. A stye is a blockage of other ducts of the eyelid. It may appear red, swollen and or warm.

Women should seek medical attention if this occurs.
