Barbados’ two most experienced netballers Latonia Blackman and Shonette Azore-Bruce will lead the Bajan Gems when they face Scotland in two Tests on December 2 and 3 in Glasgow.

Blackman, who holds the double honour of having the most caps for the Gems (149) and playing at all seven positions for the national team, was handed the captaincy, which she last held in the home series qualifier two years ago.

She turned 39 on October 6, matching the age of vice-captain Azore-Bruce, Barbados’ best defender.

The duo will lead a 15-member team of experienced players and five very talented newcomers in Trisha Deane, Akeena Stoute, Zakiya Kirton, Vivica Addison and Stephian Shepherd, who was also an excellent junior basketballer.
