Marble cricket in Barbados is set to be revived.

The Lodge School has opened the batting for the sport to make a return with the hope and possibility of taking it to the international stage in the future.

The occasion was marked by the official launch of the marble cricket initiative and an exhibition match between present and past Lodge students at the school in Society, St John, yesterday.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Dwight Sutherland, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with Responsibility for Culture John King, along with chairman of the National Sports Council, Mac Fingall, were all in attendance.

In delivering remarks, Sutherland said as Barbados transitioned towards becoming a republic, it was the perfect time to highlight the cultural sport. (AGB)
