183 new cases, one COVID death on Wednesday

There were 183 positive COVID-19 cases, 82 males and 101 females, reported for Wednesday, November 24 from 1 431 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The new cases comprised 38 people under the age of 18 and 145 who were 18 years and older.

A total of 570 people were in isolation facilities, and 4 095 in home isolation.

One person died from the virus on Wednesday. A 91-year-old unvaccinated woman passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility.

As at November 24, the number of people who died from the viral illness was 216.

The public health laboratory carried out 430 808 tests since February last year, and recorded 24 615 cases (11 754 males and 12 861 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 153 261 (67.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 135 721 (50.1 per cent of the total population or 59.4 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
