Usain Bolt’s 16-year CARIFTA record in the boys’ Under-17 400 metre was smashed tonight as Kyle Gayle won Barbados’ first gold medal of CARIFTA 2018 in spectacular fashion a short while ago.

The St Michael School student lit up the Thomas A. Robinson stadium in the Bahamas, running a time of 47.07 seconds to beat Trinidad & Tobago’s Avindale Smith and the Bahamas’ Raymond Oriaki into second and third place respectively.

The previous record, set in 2002 in the Bahamas was 47.33 seconds.

More details as they come to hand. (AL-F)
