Flood warning issued for Barbados

A flood warning is in effect for some sections of Barbados until 6 p.m. today.

It was issued by the Barbados Meteorological Services at 2:15 p.m.

The agency said the combination of a trough system, light winds and strong daytime heating had been generating some cloudy skies across northwestern, western and central districts of Barbados this afternoon.

Rainfall accumulations of one to three inches (25 to 75 mm) have already been recorded across some western districts and further accumulations of one to two inches ( 25 to 50 mm ) are likely as the evening progresses.

Residents in flood-prone areas should remain on the alert and take the necessary precautions.

A flood warning means that flooding is already occurring or is imminent. (PR/NB)
