Leaning Lightfoot Lane house a ‘danger’

A derelict house in Lightfoot Lane, The City, is leaning dangerously towards the roadway and residents fear it could collapse at any time.

The only thing preventing the wooden house, which is occupied by a man, from falling is a 12-foot piece of wood which was recently placed at the front by concerned residents to prop it up.

Dadrina Emmanuel, who lives opposite the old house, said they had telephoned the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) several times about the treacherous situation since they could not locate the owner, but she said the EPD had failed to respond.

“Since the storm [Hurricane Elsa] it was leaning and a couple weeks after the back drop in and now this part is coming apart too,” she said, pointing to the front of the house. (MB)
