Friends and members of the Brathwaite clan celebrated with former Barbados Ambassador to China Dr Chelston Brathwaite when he turned 75 recently.
The guest list for the Accra Beach Hotel and Spa birthday bash thrown by Brathwaite’s wife Rosanna, included Dame Billie Miller, representatives from the Confucius Institute at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Harry Mayers and his wife Eleanor, Minister of Agriculture Dr David Estwick and his wife Margaret and retired Permanent Secretary and former Ambassador Michael King and his wife Jackie.
Surprise guest was Brathwaite’s son Brendon, who flew in from Trinidad to celebrate the milestone. Joining his brother Andre and standing together at the podium, they shared funny stories about their growing up with “dad”.
Brathwaite is back home settling into retirement and he reflected on a fulfilling life in which he managed to hold the prestigious position of director of the Inter-American Institute for Co-operation on Agriculture. (GC)
