West Indies’ Under-19s built on an electric performance in the field to grab an important seven-wicket victory over Scotland Under-19s in the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup yesterday in St Kitts.

Chasing a modest 96 for victory, the Windies U19s needlessly lost three wickets before completing victory in their second match in Group D of the tournament at Warner Park.

Teddy Bishop formalised the result for West Indies when he lofted off-spinner Rafay Khan for a straight six with 30.2 overs remaining to give the hosts their first win of the tournament.

Bishop ended with 23 not out and Barbadian opener Shaqkere Parris led the way with 26 in a welcome result for the Windies U19s after they stumbled to a six-wicket defeat against Australia U19s in their opening match this past Friday at the Guyana National Stadium.

Summarised scores:

Scotland Under-19s 95 off 35.1 overs (Oliver Davidson 43; Shiva Sankar 3-17, Anderson Mahase 2-16, Onaje Amory 2-26). West Indies Under-19s 96 for three off 19.4 overs (Shaqkere Parris 26, Teddy Bishop 23 not out). West Indies won by seven wickets.
