618 new virus cases

Barbados recorded 618 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases (262 males and 356 females) out of the 2 512 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Thursday, February 3.

The new cases comprise 102 individuals under the age of 18, and 516 who are 18 years and older.

There were 173 people in isolation facilities, while 11 490 others are in home isolation.

Since the start of the pandemic, the public health laboratory has conducted 547 395 tests, from which 47 124 cases (21 816 males and 25 308 females) of the viral illness were identified.  As at February 3, the death toll stood at 286.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, 158 927 people (69.6 per cent of the eligible population) have received at least one dose. A total of 147 484 people (54.4 per cent of the total population or 64.6 per cent of the eligible population) are fully vaccinated. The eligible population represents people 12 years old and older.
