Members of the Barbados Equestrian Association dominated the recently concluded first leg of the Super League (SL) and Little League (LL) Show Jumping events at the Big ‘C’ Stables, Frere Pilgrim, Christ Church.
The SL 1.10m. was led by the improving Adrianna Watson and Soca Kid, who took two second place ribbons to lead the league with ten points.
The 13-year-old Indy Jones and Sir Glacken finished second on eight points, after winning round one of the competition. However, a costly error in the second round put her and her equine partner in fourth.
Paige Tryhane and Corlato, the newest stallion to the show ring, took a convincing win in the second round with seven points. Tryhane made the podium again with two third place ribbons, finishing on Everyone Loves Daisy with six points.
Following the SL competition, Jones dominated the Little League 0.80m with the young filly Galway Girl, earning eight points after grabbing first and fourth places.
Slade Jones, aboard Haze, ended with six points to capture both second and fourth places. Leah Edwards was third after a win on Lucky Luke for a total of five points. Other competitors who are still in for championship points, are Zuri Connell with five points, and Kimberly Lampkin and Dominique Jones, who are tied on three points each.
In the adult section, Gillian Sampson and Sky at Dusk lead the way with seven points after recovering from their first class spill to win in the second round.
LL classes four and seven, in the 0.90m category, was dominated by Abigail Haloute and Stella Blue, who won both rounds with a total of 14 points. Drayann Regan and LuckyLuke finished with two second place ribbons on ten points.
Jara Emtage-Cave, aboard Chico, was in third, but an unfortunate rail saw her receiving four penalties to end on six points.
The final class of LL 1m. saw a tie between Candace Jones and Spartan, and Jodi Haloute and Stella Blue with 12 points. (RA)
