COVID-19 update for February 22

There were 238 new COVID-19 cases, 110 males and 128 females, recorded on Tuesday, February 22, from the 1 181 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases comprised 49 people under the age of 18 and 189 who were 18 years and older.

There were 97 people in isolation facilities was 97 and 2601 in home isolation.

As at February 22, the number of lives lost to COVID-19 stood at 311.

The public health laboratory carried out 580 098 tests since February 2020, and recorded 54 344 COVID-19 cases (25 242 males and 29 102 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 159 920 (70 per cent of the eligible population).  The number of fully vaccinated is 149 071 (55 per cent of the total population or 65.3 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
