Prize difference ‘a worry’ for artistes

President of the Barbados Association of Creatives and Artistes (BACA), Sean “Apache” Carter, wants to see a reduction in the prize gap between the winner of the Pic-O-De-Crop competition and the other finalists.

He believes that the disparity needs to be improved, as it was likely that some artistes who place in the top ten could still walk away with huge financial losses.

“I still think the money could be spread a little more evenly as far as the Pic-O-De-Crop is concerned. That’s something I’ve been asking since 2019 when I was a tent manager at the time.

“There is usually a huge gap between the first prize of $100 000 and then you drop all the way down to $30 000 or so and there is a huge gap between first and second and the third place who gets money and, then the performance fee is low,” he said. (TG)
