Tourism officials are expecting that the upcoming summer season will be active, with some United Kingdom and United States-based airlines already having solid bookings.

“Based on reports from all of our overseas markets, we are seeing a very strong summer season being projected. Our airline partners out of the US market have already indicated that their load factors are running on average around 75 per cent and in some instances even higher for some days,” Minister of Tourism and International Transport Senator Lisa Cummins said yesterday.

“Virgin Atlantic has already given a clear indication of what their summer is looking like and it’s quite strong.”

The minister was addressing a press conference at Grantley Adams International Airport as the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. launched its giant Summer Campaign Postcards around Barbados.

The postcards were erected at the airport, Golden Square Freedom Park in The City; Bathsheba in St Joseph; the Richard Haynes Boardwalk, Hastings, Christ Church; and Holetown in St James. (TG)
