A man is in custody assisting police with investigations into an incident which occurred on Sunday morning at the Sion Hill New Testament Church, Sion Hill, St James.

Police say two individuals were injured in the melee and went off to the Sandy Crest medical facility. Their injuries are not said to be serious.

The incident reportedly occurred during the live stream of Sunday service around 11:30 a.m.

In a subsequent video making the rounds on social media, two people, one of whom was Pastor Gregney Holder, a woman told people who were watching online that a young man entered the church “demanding that we stop calling the name of Jesus”.

Holder was left with blood on his shirt and the woman said she was cuffed in her face and suffered a bruised lip. The perpetrator also destroyed the altar and some of the pews.

“This country is to be a safe country where we can worship God in peace,” she added.  (PR/SAT)
